Garage Invoice Ltd – Cookie Policy

Last updated: 25 September 2026

This Policy explains cookies and similar technologies used on the Garage Invoice website and software where Garage Invoice determines their use. It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains personal-data processing, recipients, international transfers and individual rights.

You can reject optional cookies and still use the core functions that do not depend on them. Use the website's Manage consent control to review or change your choices. Necessary functions and the optional purposes actually used are distinguished in the consent information.

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a website in your browser. Similar technologies can include local or session storage, pixels, tags and software components that store information on, or access information from, a device. This Policy uses “cookies” as a convenient term for those technologies where relevant.

First-party cookies are associated with the site you are visiting; third-party cookies or components involve another provider. Session cookies support a session, while persistent cookies can remain for a specified period or until removed. The actual duration depends on the cookie and configuration; logging out does not necessarily remove every preference or consent record.

Server-side records, such as an integration token stored securely on our server, are not automatically browser cookies. Their personal-data handling is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Cookies can support account registration and login, secure sessions, requested forms and orders, payment flows, selected preferences, records of consent choices and, where enabled, optional analytics or third-party content.

Whether a technology is necessary depends on what it actually does, not its label. A cookie described as “functional”, “security” or “first-party” is not automatically exempt from consent for every purpose.

Our approach is to use necessary technologies for the requested service and obtain a relevant choice before enabling optional analytics, optional preferences and third-party tracking components. Any different reliance on a legally permitted exception must be explained with the information and objection controls required for that exception; it is not created simply by this Policy.

Necessary technologies support functions such as maintaining an authenticated session, protecting a form submission, remembering a shopping basket during checkout, completing an authorised connection or recording your privacy choice.

They are used only to the extent needed for the relevant requested function, transmission or other applicable exception. A security component used for an additional optional tracking purpose is not treated as necessary for that additional purpose.

Necessary cookies cannot be switched off through the optional-cookie controls while the relevant function is requested. You can block them through your browser, but login, checkout or another affected function may then fail. This is different from rejecting analytics or social tracking, which is not a requirement for unrelated core access.

Preferences, forms and newsletter-related features

Where enabled, optional storage may remember display choices, information you ask us to remember between visits or whether to show a newsletter prompt. Storage genuinely needed to submit a requested form is distinguished from remembering details for a separate future purpose. A cookie choice does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

Analytics and performance measurement

Where Google Analytics or another identified analytics tool is enabled, it may collect information about pages visited, interactions, visit timing and browser or device characteristics to help us understand website use. Under the consent-based approach in this Policy, optional analytics is not enabled until you agree to that purpose.

Analytics information is not assumed to be anonymous merely because a report contains totals. The relevant provider, purpose, storage duration and any sharing are explained in the cookie details. We do not authorise sending workshop customer records, invoice contents, calendar descriptions or AI prompts to website analytics merely because analytics has been accepted.

Feature testing

Where optional testing or measurement tools are used to compare website changes, their actual purpose is identified with the relevant analytics or preference controls. Calling a feature a test does not bypass your choice.

Social media and other embedded content

Optional components provided by third parties, such as Facebook or Google services, may store or access information about your visit when enabled. A provider may be able to associate an interaction with its own account or use it for the purposes explained in its notice and our consent information.

Components involving optional tracking are not loaded for that purpose before the relevant consent. Where an embedded feature has a separate activation choice, the information shown before activation explains the provider and consequences. A normal link that takes you to another website is different from an embedded component loading on our page.

We do not use workshop Customer Data or connected-account content for advertising. Any optional social tracking or provider profiling associated with a website component must be specifically identified; a “marketing” category is not blanket permission for unnamed advertising technologies or future purposes.

Signing in to a provider, connecting a calendar or mailbox, or opening a payment checkout may take you to a provider's website or load a component needed for the requested function. That provider gives information about its own cookies and privacy practices.

On pages we control, we assess the actual use and separate necessary functionality from optional tracking. Payment or fraud-prevention branding does not automatically make every associated cookie necessary. Where reCAPTCHA or another security service is used, its processing must be assessed for the purposes actually enabled and covered by the applicable information and choices.

A server-to-server connection to Google, Microsoft, iCloud, an accounting platform, an AI provider or an SMS gateway does not mean that all of those providers set cookies in your browser. The integrations catalogue is not a cookie list.

Authorising an integration does not automatically consent to unrelated analytics, advertising or social tracking. Conversely, accepting website cookies does not authorise Garage Invoice to read your email, access your calendar, submit records to AI or charge a payment method.

The consent controls allow you to accept optional purposes, reject them or adjust the available categories. Optional purposes are not selected simply because you visit a page, scroll, close the notice, accept our Terms or leave your browser at its default settings.

You can reopen Manage consent to change your choices. Refusing or withdrawing consent is available without having to accept another optional purpose. You may also encounter a specific choice when requesting optional embedded content.

When you withdraw consent, we stop the relevant consent-based storage, access and processing and remove the related cookies that we control. We also address associated personal-data erasure and notify relevant recipients as required. Withdrawal does not make processing carried out lawfully before withdrawal unlawful.

Browser restrictions may prevent us from directly removing a cookie set on another provider's domain. Where necessary, use that provider's or your browser's controls for the remaining device copy. This does not remove our responsibility to stop our own use and honour the withdrawal.

Choices can be specific to a browser, device or service. Clearing storage or changing browser may remove the record of a previous choice and cause the notice to appear again. A missing choice is not treated as consent to optional purposes.

The cookie information provided with our consent controls identifies the technologies actually used for the relevant website or service, their provider, purpose, category and storage duration. Where applicable, it also identifies a cookie name or other technology identifier and links to the provider's information. This should be reviewed alongside the category descriptions above.

Not every technology described as a possible feature in this Policy is used on every page or in every account. Cookie use may differ between the public website, logged-in software, a customer portal and a third-party checkout.

Storage is limited to an appropriate duration for its purpose. Information already received by a server may have a different retention period from the browser cookie; deleting a cookie is not necessarily deletion of the server record. Personal-data retention and erasure are addressed in our Privacy Policy.

We retain an appropriate record of cookie choices to respect and demonstrate them. This record is not permission to use the optional technologies that were rejected.

Most browsers provide settings to inspect, block or delete cookies and other site data. Your device or browser may also offer tracking protection. Consult the help information for the browser or device you use.

These controls supplement the choices we provide. Blocking all cookies may affect necessary login, security or checkout functions, whereas rejecting optional cookies through the consent controls should not disable unrelated core functions. Removing stored settings may mean you need to sign in or select preferences again.

If you cannot access the consent controls, please contact info@garageinvoice.co.uk and describe the relevant page, browser and device without sending passwords or other sensitive information.

A garage which operates its own website or customer-facing portal is responsible for the purposes and optional technologies it chooses, including its own plugins, analytics and marketing tools. It must provide appropriate information and choices for those activities. Garage Invoice remains responsible for its own processing and for the technical obligations it has agreed to perform.

Our business customers should not assume that copying this Policy makes their separate website compliant or that a visitor's choice on the Garage Invoice website covers a different website or purpose.

We may update this Policy and the accompanying cookie information as services and technologies change. The update date appears above. Where a new purpose or other change requires a fresh choice, we obtain it before starting the relevant consent-based use. Merely publishing a revised policy does not supply that choice.

For cookie or privacy questions, contact Garage Invoice Ltd at info@garageinvoice.co.uk. Our Privacy Policy provides our registered-office details, explains individual rights and gives information about making a privacy complaint.
